Full disclosure that I came to Great China because of its famed wine list. It is not a secret that it is known to have the best wine list at retail price, especially some great burgundies that paired well with Asian cuisine.
We came on a Friday night without a reservation and was told it would be about 30 minutes wait. Got lucky with the bar seats. We ordered Montrachet for $95 which is about retail price,
Food was as good as what Yelpers been raving about. The tea smoked duck was delightful with the right balance of smokiness. The Gau Tau fish was authentically prepared and super fresh. The hot and sour soup was probably the best I ever had in the Bay Area.
Food was authentic Chinese, decor was contemporary, lively atmosphere, great service, to die for wine list at affordable prices. -

I was just at Great China for dinner. I got to the restaurant at exactly 5pm (the time they open) and there was already a line out the door to the parking lot. For groups of less than 6, you cannot make reservations, so I had to put my name on the waitlist:(
For dinner, I ordered the recommended peking duck, garlic fried rice, and string beans. For almost $50, the peking duck was alright. It was not too fatty which was nice. However, I was not a big fan of the wrap. It was stuck to each other and I didn't really like the texture. The garlic rice and the string beans were pretty good. The rice had a hint of garlic, and the string beans were a bit on the saltier side, but paired well with the rice.
Service was very good and efficient. -

I've been coming here quiet often both by myself and with a party. I recommend their peking duck - it's very authentic and flavorful. Their 两张皮 is also really amazing. I was shook how delicious Chinese fusion could be as I've always preferred authenticity. I wish that their lunch menu would have more options though, particularly for meat lovers :p
Service wise, it is decent once you get a table. However, in the waiting area one of the attendees with ginger hair is an absolute b****. She handles operations badly and is not friendly. I try to avoid her at all costs and talk to the blonde guy instead. -

Delicious! Great spacious place that takes reservations and paid parking across the street. My favorite item was the Double Skin mung bean cold noodle mixed with vegetables, pork and seafood. We also got the walnut prawns, pork dumplings, and surf clam. They were good but didn't stand out to me as much as the cold noodles. Next time we'll have to come with a larger group to get the Peking Duck, which is supposed to be one is their main prizes. Overall the restaurant was clean, service was fast, prices were reasonable. Would definitely come

I finally understand why this place always has a line waiting out the door.
Definitely come early! I had to wait about 1.5 hours on a Friday night for a party of two.
The dishes here are large and meant to be shared...unless you're like me and order enough for a family of 6 lol. We ordered: peking duck, hot and sour soup, potstickers, walnut shrimp, and the fried rice.
All of the food came out fairly quickly. The hot and sour soup was a great start to the meal. It had the perfect balance of savory and tart and they were also very generous with the add-ins.
Skip the potstickers - I wanted to try them based on the pictures and reviews, but they're honestly nothing special. The skin is nice and crispy, but the filling was really bland and all I tasted was pepper.
The walnut shrimp was fried perfectly, but I probably wouldn't order this again. I felt like the shrimp tasted like they weren't cleaned properly.
Fried rice was ok, it had somewhat of a bland flavor, but would be a great side to everything else you're ordering.
The peking duck was obviously the star of the night. The skin was perfectly crisp and there were plenty of wrappers to pair alongside. Definitely order this if it's your first time here!
